Hilary has been working with children and their families for over 30 years. She is a licensed marriage and family therapist in California. Before she was licensed she did lay counseling in various churches in Northern California. In her private practice she specializes in treating children and their families who have been traumatized, including families involved in National and International kidnapping cases. In addition, she works with individuals and couples to help resolve interpersonal issues such as parenting, blended families, and adoptive families. She works with adults who were sexually abused as children, survivors of rape, or victims of violence. She uses various methods in treatment depending on the age and comfort level of her clients - including talk therapy, and the use of art and play in therapy.

Hilary has a heart for the artist/creative community! She uses art interventions for those creative people to help them get in touch with their deeper feelings. She developed and teaches a class for Graduate Students to learn how to work with clients who are creative/artistic in a meaningful way. Often, creatives can access their deep feelings though art easier than with words. Art making becomes a tool for healing in the therapeutic process.
